2015 – 2016 Academıc Year Message

This Monday will be a very exciting day for both millions of students and parents, teachers and the National Education community as it marks the beginning of the new school year.

This Monday carries a more special meaning for students who will begin school for the very first time and their parents.  We, the educators, are carrying an important responsibility on our shoulders as we have the mission of preparing our children for the future.  This is not an easy task to achieve in the world which has been going through a constant change in a high transition speed. At this point, it is clear that the greatest responsibility belongs to our education community, parents and especially to our teachers.

Instead of dictating the information and habits of the old world which is comforting and easy for us, we have to work in an effort to assist our children to draw their own paths and understand their world which is full of innovations.

We all know how deeply the information technologies influenced our daily routines. Computers and internet which were absent decades ago have become irreplaceable parts of our lives and they are offering brand new life styles for us. Like they did in many fields, they provide important opportunities especially in training and education. However, these information technologies also cause some negativity. Excessive and wrong usage of these technologies cause young people to be alienated from their close circles, their bodies remain motionless and many of them are exposed to unnecessary mass of information. Due to this reason, it is very important not to let students become too attached to the charming technological world and use this technology consciously and in the most useful way possible. Within this framework, especially parents and teachers are responsible for guiding them.

In this context, the Ministry of National Education carries an important project publicly known as EIN (Education Information Network) as we are aware of our important mission. Based on a cloud system that works independently from space, location and device,
EIN which became the biggest education portal of the world, shall be at the service of our teachers, students and parents with its new design and architecture in the new academic year.

Easy to use EIN that provides systematic comprehensive electronic lesson content shall be a leading source in the class as well as during obtaining the skills of the 21st century.

I also like to use the occasion of the opening of new academic year as an opportunity to wish blessings during the new school year for teachers, students and parents as well as our entire nation.

Nabi AVCI
 Minister of National Education
